Opening the Vault: An Ode to Authenticity
The Secret Vault is a deeply personal debut album about letting go of the stories that keep us small and finding the courage to become visible. For years, I believed there was always one more step to take before I would feel ready to release my own music. The turning point came with the birth of my daughter Zoë. Wanting her to follow her dreams made me realise I had to grant myself that same freedom. The Secret Vault became an invitation to stop waiting for perfection and embrace authenticity instead.
Rooted in jazz yet shaped by a lifelong love for pop songs and traditional melodies, the album features original arrangements, improvisation and my first original composition, Water. It was recorded with my international quartet: Belgian pianist Dominique Vantomme, German bassist Werner Lauscher and Dutch drummer Geert Roelofs. Together, we chose an organic, live approach, capturing the music with as much spontaneity, artistic freedom, vulnerability and honesty as possible.
What began as a search for perfection ultimately became an ode to authenticity.

RELEASE TOUR 2026 - 2027
What began as a long-held dream has grown into a release tour spanning more than 25 concerts across Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Together with her international quartet, Vanessa Matthys brings The Secret Vault to audiences throughout 2026 and 2027, bringing to the stage the same connection and spontaneity that shaped the album itself.
Vanessa Matthys Quartet
The Vanessa Matthys Quartet is an international acoustic jazz ensemble based around Belgian jazzvocalist Vanessa Matthys featuring Belgian pianist Dominique Vantomme, German bassist Werner Lauscher and Dutch drummer Geert Roelofs. Together they perform music from The Secret Vault alongside new arrangements and original material, where storytelling, improvisation and connection take center stage.
VANESSA MATTHYS
Vanessa Matthys is a Belgian jazz vocalist and bandleader whose music moves between intimacy and intensity, combining storytelling, improvisation and a deeply personal sound. Rooted in the jazz tradition while open to contemporary influences, she is known for her lyrical voice, expressive interpretation and a strong sense of musical interplay.
A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she studied with David Linx, and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Vanessa has collaborated with artists including Brussels Jazz Orchestra, Dirk Brossé, Bill Carrothers and Ivan Paduart. In June 2026, she released The Secret Vault, her debut album as a bandleader, with the Vanessa Matthys Quartet. The album launched an ongoing concert tour across Belgium and beyond, with more than 25 performances to date.
DOMINIQUE VANTOMME
Dominique Vantomme is a Belgium based pianist, keyboardist, composer and producer.
Originally working as a blues/jazzpianist, he has spent the past 10 years playing with numerous acts in pop, rock and jazz. He has recorded and toured as a pianist, musical director and arranger for artists such as Axelle Red, Ana Popovic, Hindi Zahra, Vaya Con Dios, Viktor Lazlo, Louisiana Red, Theresa Malenfant, An Pierlé. Creating music and sound has always been a constant factor in his life, which has resulted in several records with his bands Vegir, ROOT, Mahieu-Vantomme Quartet.
WERNER LAUSCHER
German bassist began his professional career as a bass-player when he was 18. His very specific groovy, swinging and melodical style can be heard on more than 40 Cd's - recordings with Charlie Mariano, Bob Mintzer, Randy Brecker, Rocco Granata, Joachim Kühn, Helmut Lotti, Toots Thielemann, Glenn Corneille, Boris, Jo Lemaire, Michel Bisceglia, Leon Delray (Udo Schild) and many others.
GEERT ROELOFS
Geert Roelofs studied at the Conservatory of Maastricht and took lessons from Arnoud Gerritse.
In ’00 Geert played at the North Sea Jazz Festival with his trio Corneille/Roelofs and won the Best New Talent Award for Glenn Corneille.
He won the Jerry van Rooyen Award 2003, concert with Dado Moroni and Phillip Aerts.
From ’03 till ‘08’ he played with Il Novecento ‘Night of the Proms’, concerts, tv registrations for France 3, radio sessions with Julio Iglesias, Charles Aznavour, Patricia Kaas, Xander de Buisonjé, Jan Leyers, Paul Michiels, Sandra Kim, Zucchero, Celine Dion, Gypsy Kings, DJ Bobo, Danny Brillant, etc.
